Tips for Chinese text to speech
Use Chinese punctuation (,。!?) to place pauses, and write numbers the way they should be read when it matters, for example 二〇二六年 or 两千零二十六. Polyphonic characters are usually read correctly in context; if one is not, rephrase the sentence.
Each Chinese character counts as one character, and Mandarin speech runs at roughly 250 characters a minute, so a 4,000-character clip can hold over fifteen minutes. Cantonese voices read Chinese text with Cantonese pronunciation; test colloquial wording such as 嘅 and 哋 on a short line first.
